Belgian web directory and search engine

How to use Webwatch?

The Belgian Search Engine

Webwatch is a unique search engine that allows you to find Belgian Internet sites in two ways: by a subject index or a keyword search.

When submiting your website to the Directory
  • Using the title that appears in your metatags as title of your website is a good idea, as long as this title is clear about what your website content.
  • Provide a good description of your website, not just a list of keywords or a single phrase that doesn't mean anything.
  • Do not provide a description in a language that is not present on your website
  • Do not submit your website if its content is not related to Belgium
  • Only submit your website root url. Internal pages of your website will not get listed.
  • Do not submit multiple domains or sub-domains for the same content

  •  Directory or Search engine ?
The Index groups approximately 15000 belgian websites sites according to subject categories, and includes short descriptions of the sites. It is best used to find a variety of sites that treat the same subject or to browse through different subjects to find new and interesting sites. New sites are added by their creators who wish to alert the public of their site's existance, or by the Webwatch team. The Index is compiled by our staff at DAD who check the URL's, the descriptions, and the subject headings for accuracy. The Index also contains sections devoted to 'New' sites, 'Cool' sites and 'Must' sites. New sites are sites added in the past ten days. Cool sites are sites of superior content or quality picked by the Webwatch team. Must sites are generally business related, of use to the Internet community.

For example, if you are interested in finding information about automobiles, use the index by clicking on the subject 'Business and Economy / Cars'. All of the sites that have been submitted to Webwatch that deal with automobiles will be listed with short descriptions.

     Backlinks policy
There are 2 ways to get a hard link to your website in Webwatch.

  • If you have submitted a website to the Webwatch directory, you should put a link to Webwatch on your website. If you link to us, any search result or directory page that matches your website will be a hard link to it, instead of a redirection.
Let us know if you link to us, so we can update your website link information. (Please don't forget to mention the page where the link can be found...)

  • The current links status page shows the top 50 refering websites which link to Webwatch. This page is updated weekly and counters are set back to zero every month. If your website provides enough referals, it will be listed in there with a hard link to it.
Please note that referals from popup windows or any other unfair links or redirections will not be taken into account.

  •  About website submission

Webwatch is dedicated to Belgium, belgian sites or belgian related sites.
Foreign sites will NOT be included unless they contain specific information related to Belgium or belgian people.

    • Resources with meaningful titles and descriptions are displayed in top positions in the results pages.
    • If you already have submitted a resource to The Index, you can update its information by using this form.
    • Do not enter desciptions in the wrong language and do not use keywords as descriptions: this will get your resource down in the results page (if your lucky). If you're not, your resource will be dropped from the Index.
    • Do not use automatic site submission software to add a resource. This will get your site banned from our index.
    • Make sure you use the correct form to submit a ressource ( Website).

The Internet is an evolving, living network. Although we try to keep the system accurate and timely, URLs contained in the Crawler and Index may not work if the server is down or offline, if the site has been removed, or if the site has been moved to another location. If you have problems accessing a site found on Webwatch, please Let us know.
